CORAL AND LIME

makeup for dark skin
maybelline shocking coralblack makeup blog

Simple and fresh makeup of the day easy to wear with a pop of color. Summer is almost over! I'm actually very excited it's not my favorite season but I felt like this look ended up representing it really well. I personally just love lime green and decided that that was going to be in the look. Also loving shocking coral from the maybelline vivids when I first got it I wasn't a fan but now I've learned I like more when I apply it in a stain fashion instead of being too neat and 'lipstick-y', also used it as a blusher.  Topped off with my favorite gloss.

SWEET NECTAR: THE SUMMER ORANGE

Orange Lipstick, Makeup blog

Look of the day showcasing one of Milanis Color Statement lipsticks in Sweet Nectar, a rich orange. I think this color is beautiful but I probably should have put it on first before I did my eyes since it was the one product I knew for sure I wanted to use that day because while I think the colors coordinate I feel there is just a bit of a style clash with the eyes. C'est la Vie. My lips also happened to be a bit dehydrated, they were texturally smooth but were winkled and a bit pinched which doesn't do the color any favors I tried adding a gloss to smooth them over in appearance but....it gave me clown mouth. Needless to say I won't be posting those pics.

I definitely want to try this lip out again where it really is the main focus because I'm not sold that orange is as flattering as I hoped it would be on my skintone. I see a lot of other dark women wear it and I think it looks gorgeous but I feel it just looks a bit off on me and currently I would not feel comfortable wearing it around.

I really liked how my eyes turned out I think with a nude lip this could be a favorite eye look for myself. The eye shadow colors really made my eyes stand out and 'glow' in my opinion.

THE SUMMER MAKEUP

Makeup Blog, Green Makeup, Green Smokey Eye, Blush for dark skin

Just a few of my favorite things compiled into one makeup look.

  • Luminous Skin courtesy of my Magic Lumi primer
  • Green. One of my favorite colors.
  • Softly flushed lips and cheeks.
For this look I used my Maybelline Vivids lipstick in Shocking Coral as a blusher. I absolutely loved the results. My blush collection is severely lacking but since I've started using my lipsticks as blushers it's definitely opened up some new options for me!

I've also really been enjoying using white shadows shimmery and matte as facial and eye highlights. I didn't think it would pair wear with my darker brown skin but it's absolutely amazing and shows up much better than the standard gold I tend to lean towards for my skintone.
